Attic Gallery—the venerable gallery of contemporary art that last year relocated to Camas from Portland—will be showing “Thicker Than Water,” a special mother-daughter exhibit of works by well-known artists Marilyn Singh and Melissa Singh Cole. You can meet both artists in person at the First Friday Artist’s Reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at Attic Gallery, 421 N.E. Cedar St. in downtown Camas.
For Marilyn—and Oregon native who lived for many years in Nepal and India—painting has been a joy and a lifelong pursuit, capturing the light and changing seasons in watercolor. Marilyn’s dedication to her craft inspired her daughter, Melissa, to follow a similar path. Melissa has traveled to nearly every country in the world to country, letting exotic locales and distant oceans and mountains inform her own individual style of paintings, murals, sculpture and ceramics. Melissa’s most recent exhibit was at the Marmot Art Space in Kendall Yards, Spokane.
Attic Gallery will offer complimentary wine and light refreshments at the reception, along with live music by Bret Malmquist. The “Thicker Than Blood” exhibit will last through Saturday, Oct. 29. Attic Gallery is normally open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. There is no admission fee.
