The Old Liberty Theater will be swingin’ it, western-style, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, during a special concert with mandolin master Brian Oberlin and his Western Swing Band, the Swinging Doors. Oberlin is an award-winning mandolin champion and will be belting out dance-able Western tunes on his electric mandolin (yes, you read that right) with Dan Lowinger on electric guitar, Rusty Blake on steel guitar (because your Western band has to have a guy named Rusty), Tommy Chiffon on drums and Chris Kee on bass.
This concert is part of Ridgefield’s First Saturday events, and September’s theme is the Wild, Wild West. Come early to join the hootenanny and enjoy beer and BBQ, country music, line dancing, and zucchini racing (because why not?) in Overlook Park.
The Old Liberty will open its doors at 6:45 p.m. so that you can get snacks in the lobby and find a good seat, although during the concert you’ll probably want to get out of your seat and do some boot-scootin’. Tickets are $15 for all ages. Advance tickets are available by calling the theater at 360-887-7260.
