What’s better than sipping an alchoholic libation, strolling along the boutique-lined streets of Vancouver, and enjoying a lovely summer evening? (Seriously, it’s going to be gorgeous—the high temperature on Saturday is predicted to be only 84 degrees!) Here’s the best part: all proceeds benefit the Hough Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that helps kids in our community cultivate self-reliance through mentoring, advocating for mental health and social services, and providing opportunities for classroom, after school, and early learning enrichment.
The fifth annual Sip & Stroll, presented by Riverview Community Bank from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, will feature locations in both Uptown Village and in downtown Vancouver. Participants (21 years or older) will have the opportunity to sample an array of fine wines, craft brews and ciders at 30 merchant and restaurant locations. Sippers and strollers will also enjoy live music, shopping discounts, and special menu items while ambling along the tree-shaded streets of the Uptown Village and downtown Main, Broadway and Washington Streets. If you get tired while walking, shuttle service for strollers is available along the Sip & Stroll route.
Self-guided tasting tours will begin and end at the Burgerville Center for Responsible Community Leadership at 1602 Main St. Parking is available on the entire block south of the start location. Tickets are available online for $30 each at www.foughfoundation.org or $35 at the gate. Participants will receive a commemorative tasting glass along with a tasting map. You’ll also be able to purchase bottles of your favorite beverage at the starting location.
