Open Mic, Pups & Painting at Latte Da

As always, Latte Da Coffee House and Wine Bar has a full menu—and I don’t just mean sandwiches, wraps, small plates, pastries, coffee, wine and beer. I mean there’s always something going on at this neighborhood nexus, which hosts everything from wine tasting evenings to networking events to live music on its outdoor patio (complete with fire pit). There are three fun events coming up in the next week that you might want to attend:

  • Friday, Sept. 9: Spoken Word Open Mic Night. Enjoy a night of the spoken word! Poetry and short stories may be read. Sign-up starts at 5:30 p.m. and readings start at 6 p.m. All ages are welcome to attend and perform.
  • Saturday, Sept. 10: Pups & People Dog Meet-up. Come and meet your two- and four-legged friends at Latte Da’s monthly canine shindig, happening from 9 to 11 a.m. Try the from-scratch Belgian waffles with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream, and buy a bandana to benefit local dog rescue, Must Love Dogs NW.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 13: Sip & Paint. Unwind with a glass of wine and a no-fail painting class from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Sign up by contacting Bonnie Junell at BonnieJunellArtist.com. The cost is $45 and includes all materials plus one glass of wine.

Latte Da is located at 205 E. 39th St., just a few blocks west of Main Street. For more information or to view Latte Da’s monthly events calendar, visit lattedacoffeehouse.com.

Latte Da Coffee House and Wine Bar in Vancouver's historic and charming Lincoln neighborhood is hosting this wonderful combination of painting class and wine appreciation, featuring local artist Bonnie Junell as your teacher. The best part is: the more wine you drink, the better your painting looks. (Um, up to a point, of course.)

The next Sip & Paint will be held from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The cost is $45 per person and includes all supplies plus a glass of wine—although of course you may sample additional vintages; Latte Da offers a thoughtful selection of Northwest wines, as well as a few gems from California, Portugal, and Argentina. As for brew-lovers, they can branch out with a Belgian white or an oatmeal stout.

Absolutely no experience (or even talent) is necessary; the point is simply to enjoy yourself. Participants should wear clothes they don't mind getting paint-splattered, and invite a friend. As the folks at Latte Da like to say, "Friends don't let friends drink and paint alone."
