Riverside Concert in Marina Park: Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts

Saturday is expected to be beautiful, with cooler temperatures and a bit of a breeze. Why not spend Saturday afternoon exploring Washougal? There’s the popular Washougal Arts Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Reflection Plaza, featuring art for sale by almost 30 local artists. Grab a bite and a pint at Amnesia Brewing or a cup of expertly brewed coffee at Washougal Coffee Company, enjoy sushi at The Sushi Joint, pamper yourself with a beauty treatment at Glo Beauty Lounge, and browse the latest fashions at LuLu’s Boutique. (If you’re feeling adventurous, you might even get a tattoo at 3rd Heart Tattoo.)

Later in the evening, head down to Marina Park, where the Port of Camas-Washougal is hosting a riverside concert. From 6 to 7 p.m., King Louie and LaRhonda Steele will begin a music-filled evening with soul, rhythm & blues. Then, local favorite Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts will entertain the audience from 8 to 9:30 p.m., wrapping up the concert with hits from the 50s and 60s.

There will be a beer garden and food vendors, face painting, balloon animals, games, and plenty of family-friendly fun on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River. Washougal’s riverside concerts are extremely popular, so come early to save your spot. For more details, or to learn more about the Port of Camas-Washougal, visit www.portcw.com.

Washougal Art Festival and Riverside Concert

There’s a new arts festival on the North Bank, and it’s coming to the ‘Shoug from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. The Washougal Art Festival, organized by the Washougal Arts and Cultural Alliance, promises to be a showcase of the area’s 30 best visual artists with works of all media: paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and more. The festival showcases professional artists who will be exhibiting work to sell. This is a juried festival, and the works you’ll be able to see (and purchase!) have been judged on originality, creativity, mastery of craftsmanship, and innovative use of materials. Proceeds from the event will support local public art projects. Here’s what else you can expect:

  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.—silent auction of original oil painting by Liz Pike, as featured in Washougal Art Festival promotions
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—“Art Rocks” children’s activity area, sponsored by Columbia Credit Union
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., hourly—raffle drawings for artists’ works
  • Performance art from Dayley Dance Academy, Portland Rhythm Shakers and singer/songwriter Caryn Jamieson throughout the day.

But stick around, because there’s more! Grab a bite and a pint at Amnesia Brewing or a cup of expertly brewed coffee at the newly opened Washougal Coffee Company, then head down to Marina Park, where the Port of Camas-Washougal is hosting a riverside concert. At 6 p.m., Rocket 88 will begin a music-filled evening with country, swing, and rhythm & blues.
