Swing it, brothers, swing! It’s a familiar sound—that West Coast-style, Big Band-era, 40s and 50s jazz—but it’ll be new again this Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield. An 11-member ensemble will present “Re-Birthing the Cool: Bebop & Beyond” from 7:30 to 10 p.m. This group of professional musicians and vocalists will be laying down captivating rhythms, re-birthing Bebop jazz with fast, complex tempos and upbeat melodies.
As if that weren’t marvelous enough, fine wine and delectable chocolate will be available for sipping and sampling in the theater lobby. This event is held in conjunction with Ridgefield’s First Saturday celebration, “Wine & Chocolate Gratitude Festival,” featuring art, music, food and activities for the whole family from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. under a big, heated tent at Overlook Park.
The Old Liberty will open its doors at 6:45 p.m. All tickets to the jazz concert are $15. Tickets are available at the door or by calling 360-887-7260. The Old Liberty Theater is located at 115 N. Main St. in downtown Ridgefield.
