Wine & Yoga Class at Pomeroy Cellars

What goes better with wine than…yoga? (I know you were going to say cheese, and so was I, but let’s be open-minded, here.) Pomeroy Cellars is offering just such a relaxing combination during “A Class & a Glass,” with two dates to choose from: 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. Is that too early in the day to enjoy wine? You’re kidding with that question, right?

The class is a 60-minute outdoor (weather permitting) session of expert yoga instruction, followed by a glass of Pomeroy Cellars wine to enjoy after class is over and you don’t want anything to harsh your mellow. The cost is $20 per person and includes wine. Come dressed in comfortable clothes and bring water, a yoga mat, and valid ID to prove that you’re drinking age. Payment can be accepted on site with cash or a credit/debit card. If the weather isn’t nice, class will be held in Pomeroy Cellars’ beautiful tasting room.

Students at the Sept. 2 class will learn the classic Hatha technique, which is less intense than flow yoga and moves through postures held in stillness, and in anticipation of a nice Chardonnay. Students at the Sept. 18 class will engage in a more vigorous style of Ashtanga-Vinyasa yoga with a set sequence of postures and possible sweating.

Pomeroy Cellars 2nd Anniversary Party

Pomeroy Cellars is celebrating its second anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 17. Drop by their beautiful tasting room, located on Pomeroy Farm on scenic Lucia Falls road between Battle Ground and Yacolt, any time from noon to 8:30 p.m. to help them celebrate this milestone. The event is free to attend and just right for anyone age 21 and over.

Pomeroy Cellars will be offering different wine specials every hour, spinning their “Discount Wheel” to determine which wine will be on sale for the next 60 minutes. There will also be prize drawings on the hour, every hour—no purchase necessary! Live music will be provided by The Indecisions from 4 to 8 p.m., and Drinkable Arts will be on-site from 2 to 6 p.m. with all the supplies you need to paint your own stemless wine glass for $10.

Guests can enjoy dinner catered by South Pacific Café and Lounge from 5 to 7:30 p.m., available to purchase or free for Pomeroy’s Elite Wine Club members (and you can sign up on the spot and get the free dinner, if you wish). Just to tempt you, dinner is teriyaki chicken, summertime salad, piña colada rice, and sweet sticky bread for $13.50. A vegetarian option will be available as well.

Walk n’ Wine

It’s pretty much the ideal day: hiking along some of Clark County’s most beautiful and lushly scenic byways, with stops along the way for wine tasting. That, in a nutshell, is Walk n’ Wine: a summer hiking series where you can follow the North Clark County Wine Trail and taste first-hand the delicious wines produced by Pomeroy Cellars, Dolio Winery, and Moulton Falls Winery.

The first Walk n’ Wine is at Moulton Falls Winery on Saturday, May 21. Participants will meet at the winery and then hike to Moulton Falls Park, following a relatively easy trail that will give hikers gorgeous views of the iconic Moulton Falls Bridge. Walk three miles to earn a small logo glass, four miles for a complimentary tasting, five miles for a large logo glass, and if you climb Bell’s Mountain to the one-mile mark, you’ll earn a mini-growler. Hikers will be given maps, and volunteers will be stationed along the trail to award tokens for mileage achievements. Walkers will return to the winery for live music, pizza and salmon burgers. (…and here’s something else to note: Moulton Falls Winery offers live music every weekend through the summer, as well as special wine-and-food rides on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad, with a train stop just outside the winery.)

Then, on Saturday, June 18, Walk n’ Winers will meet at Pomeroy Cellars and walk to Lucia Falls Park, choosing a one-mile, three-mile or five-mile looping route through the woods and beside the roaring falls. Finally, on Saturday, July 23, wine-lovers will embark on a three-mile exploration Lewisville Park—Clark County’s oldest park—with guides from Dolio Winery.

Kids are welcome to walk with their parents as long as they’re old enough to navigate the woodsy trails, and some of the routes are also stroller-friendly. All Walk n’ Wine events begin between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Sign up in person at each of the participating wineries on the morning of the hike. Registration is $15 per hike plus a donation of canned food, and proceeds benefit the North Clark County Food Bank and North County Emergency Medical Services. All participants will receive small souvenirs for each of the hikes they complete, with additional prizes for those who complete longer routes. Pomeroy Cellars Grand Opening

Pomeroy Cellars has been offering wine tastings on Saturdays and Sundays for several weeks now (and North Bank Now wrote about it here), but as of Saturday, Sept. 20, the winemaker’s newly remodeled indoor tasting room is now ready for wine lovers from all over the Northwest to come and taste the glorious results of their labor.

Grand Opening of Pomeroy Cellars

Here’s a secret: North Bank Now has favorites. There are some places in Southwest Washington that we like to visit again and again, and when we do, we’re never disappointed. Pomeroy Farm—home of Pumpkin Lane (weekends Oct. 4-26) as well as the wonderful Herb and Garden Festival in the spring—is one of those places: always beautiful, always interesting, and guaranteed to make good memories. That’s why we became tipsy with delight (metaphorically, of course) when we heard that this family-owned working farm is PomeroyCellarsWineopening its very own wine tasting room, right on the farm.
