Tony Starlight’s Elton John Tribute at the Old Liberty

The Tony Starlight Show is bring Elton John to the stage this Saturday, June 10, at the Old Liberty Theater in downtown Ridgefield. The performance will be accompanied by a full band celebrating the music of Elton John and lyrics of Bernie Taupin, so hold your tiny dancer closer with a cold brew in hand as you take a walk down memory lane with classics by the one-and-only Piano Man. (Wait, isn’t that Billy Joel? No matter—it’s still rock ‘n roll to me.)

Audience members will be treated to everything from songs (old and new and parodies, too!) to comedy sketches to impressions. Fresh from the Stony Starlight Showroom in Portland, this variety show—which changes every year—has included homages to Dean Martin, Axl Rose, Bob Seger, the Copacabana Club, the Rat Pack, and Solid Gold. You never know exactly what you’ll see, but it will definitely be entertaining.

This show is just right for anyone age 21 and over. Tickets are $20 per person. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., but the Old Liberty will open its doors open at 6:45 p.m. so you can fortify yourself with refreshments from Seasons Café in the lobby, including craft beer and wine. The Old Liberty Theater is located at 115 N. Main Street in Ridgefield. To learn more, visit www.oldlibertytheater.com.

Stand-Up Comedy at the Old Liberty

Although 2016 wasn’t a very funny year in any literal sense, in terms of material for stand-up comedy, it was—and continues to be, perhaps unfortunately—a goldmine. What is definitely fortunate is that the North Bank has a bevy of local comedians who are ready to get up on stage and make you laugh, even while real life may make you want to cry a little. There’s the monthly Comedy On Tap at the Kiggins Theater, and now there’s a stand-up comedy series at the Old Liberty Theatre in downtown Ridgefield.
