Halloween Party

Dance-a-Thon & Halloween Party

Put on your dancing shoes—in fact, put on a whole costume!—and come to the Metropolitan Performing Arts Academy‘s third annual Dance-a-Thon & Halloween Party, happening from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the MPAA’s studio at 905 N.E. 68th St., Suite D, in Vancouver.

The playlist includes 50s sock hop, rock, 80s tunes (OF COURSE “Thriller” is on the list!), old school hip hop, pop, and musical theater. Pick a theme from the playlist and dress up to get into the spirit—then dance your heart out! There will be drawings and prizes for the most fundraiser, best dancing, best costumes—not to mention the Dance Battle Finale! The goal is for each participating couple, group, or family to raise at least $100 in community support; this earns a ticket for the prize drawing to be held during the Dance-a-Thon. Every $50 above that earns another ticket!

For more information about the Dance-a-Thon and how to register, call MPAA at 360-975-1585 or visit www.metropaa.org.

Halloween Party at Moulton Falls Winery

Fall is a glorious time at Moulton Falls Winery in scenic Yacolt, not just because the surrounding lanscape burst into vibrant autumn colors, but also because it’s harvest time. All the grapes are being harvested, crushed, and bottled, and local apples and other fruits are being turned into delicious ciders. It’s time to celebrate with a Moulton Falls-style Halloween Party from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

There will be live music by 60s & 70s tribute band Echoes of Yasgurs, a costume contest with prizes, the release of a new Sangiovese, beer and cider on tap, and a special “witch’s brew.” (What’s in it? We can’t tell you, but rest assured, it’s probably not eye of newt.) Moulton Falls ciders on tap include Yellowstone, Pine-Bear (pineapple-raspberry), Ripsaw Raspberry, and Tart Cherry. Beers on tap include Arson Amber, Transcend IPA, Vantucky Pale Ale, and R.I.P. Porter. Ciders and beers are both available by the glass for $7, or you can purchase your own 32-ounce squealers or 64-ounce growlers to take home. The wood fired oven will be stoked up and turning out pizzas, calzones and other treats, and salads and sandwiches will be available from the kitchen.

The winery opens at noon on Saturdays, and the winery is a delightful place to spend an afternoon, either indoors or outdoors when the weather is fine. Sample some wines and enjoy the view and refresh yourselves with nibbles from the kitchen. To learn more about Moulton Falls Winery—which offers live music and wine tasting every weekend year-round—visit moultonfallswinery.com. The winery is located at 31101 N.E. Railroad Ave. in Yacolt.

Halloween Block Party at The Mill

The Mill—the trendy shopping and dining destination in central Vancouver, formerly known as Garrison Square—will host a Halloween Block Party on Sunday, Oct. 29, from noon to 5 p.m. This will be a free event open to the public to enjoy! Family-friendly activities include giveaways, a bounce house for kids, face painting, delicious bites from Rally Pizza and Smokehouse Provisions, and a photo opp with Rojo the Llama. Come dressed up in your Halloween costume and enjoy treats (no tricks!) from the many fine businesses located in The Mill. Try some of Rally’s frozen custard, boozy shakes, and wood-fired pizzas, or some of Smokehouse’s bacon molasses cornbread, beef brisket, pulled pork, and spareribs.

NW Wine Distributors will also be hosting a wine tasting with local Washington wines and Ben’s Bottle Shop will be selling beer and offering free tastings for imbibers. You’ll also want to visit the locally legendary Pines Coffee and sample one (or more) of their many housemade spiced coffee and tea drinks, like the Fort Vancouver (coconut caramel and dark chocolate), Mount St. Helens (smokey Ancho chiles, cayenne pepper, and dark chocolate), or Lodgepole Pine (juniper berry, pine, and orange).

The Mill is located at 7950 E. Mill Plain Boulevard where it intersects with Garrison Road. Ample free parking is available in the large lot.
