Green Business Showcase

Green is the color of growth and new life…and the North Bank is certainly bursting with an abundance of green-minded businesses that care about our local environment and that are doing everything they can to conserve our region's abundant resources. This is what those businesses are discovering: green isn't just good; it's also profitable. The Vancouver Business Journal wants to celebrate green businesses and raise awareness about their vital roles in our community.

With that in mind, the VBJ invites you to attend the 2014 Green Business Showcase and Reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the historic Fort Vancouver Artillery Barracks. Attendees will learn about what businesses are doing to become greener, how they're creating a healthy work environment for employees, and the ways they're giving back to their communities. The Clark County Green Business Program will also recognize participants that have completed all the requirements to be verified as green businesses.

The cost is $10 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres. To get your tickets, click here.

Green Is Lucky at Camas First Friday

Leprechauns will be hiding in downtown Camas from 5 to 8 p.m. on First Friday, March 7. If you can find the "Lucky Leprechauns," who are expected to be tucked away in any number of shops and restaurants, you'll get a pot of gold! No, not really. But, if you find enough leprechauns and collect enough raffle tickets, you might win a fabulous prize. Wear green and get a free raffle ticket—and get extra tickets if you wear a green hat. Go on—we dare you!

Browse through Camas' utterly charming boutiques (including our favorites Camas Antiques, Lily Atelier, Lizzabeth A, Ballard & Call, and Navidi's), meet Eartha the Clown and her cockatoo, make yummy s’mores over real fire pits, and learn more about local green-focused businesses and organizations. Sign up for a Master Gardeners or Master Composters class. Buy a box of cookies (or two or three) from our favorite "girls in green" (the Girl Scouts, of course), and hear the band Medium Size Kids perform in front of Nico Bella Salon. Have dinner at one of Camas' many fine restaurants (K'Syrah, Harvest, Mill City Brew Wërks, Nuestra Mesa, or Twilight Pizza Bistro, to name a few), and then have an after-dinner drink at Krystal's Champagne Lounge, Birch Street Uptown Lounge, or Caps'n'Taps. If it's raining, that'll only make your enjoyable evening greener.
