Goats on the River

Goats on the River

The Port of Camas-Washougal has gone over to the Goat Side (and invites you to join them). Yoder Goat Rentals will be assisting the Port with removal of invasive species beginning on Monday, Oct. 17. The goats are supported by Salmon Safe Certification because they reduce the amount of pesticides and fertilizers used by naturally taking care of the invasive species while fertilizing with, um…goat poop (watch where you step!). Goats also do well on heavily sloped lands and stay out of water.

The goats will be on site for seven to ten days and will be fully managed by the Yoder Goat Rental company. There will be around 65 goats at the site and community members are welcome to come visit the goats and see their progress any time from Oct. 17 through Oct. 25. Bring the kids to see our furry friends at work, but let the little ones know that no feeding or touching is allowed because the goats will be behind a solar-powered electric fence.

The goats will be stationed at various places around and along the Washougal Waterfront Park and Trail, located at 56 S. 1st St. in Washougal with plenty of free parking.
