Nothing says Merry Christmas like thick slabs of gingerbread slathered in frosting and candy and made to look like a wintry holiday cottage, am I right? Or gingerbread cookie cutouts in myriad festive shapes, with globs of icing and Red Hots, candy cane bits, and chocolate chips for edible decoration…either way, you can indulge your kids’ sweet teeth at two upcoming workshops: Gingerbread Fun at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Woodland Community Center or Gingerbread Houses at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the La Center Community Library.
No registration is needed for either workshop, both of which are completely free. All materials will be provided, as well as step-by-step instructions. The Gingerbread Fun workshop in Woodland is for kids ages five to nine. (Warning: they will get sticky.) The Gingerbread House workshop in La Center is for preschoolers ages three to six, kids ages five to nine, and preteens ages nine to 12. (Yup, they’ll get sticky, too.)
The Woodland Community Center is located at 782 Park St., right next door to the Woodland Community Library. The La Center Community Library is located at 1411 N.E. Lockwood Creek Rd.
