Ecliptic Brewers Dinner at Ben’s Bottle Shop

Ben’s Bottle Shop, the amazing new taproom and bottle shop in the Heights area of Vancouver, is hosting Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing for a special four-course beer-and-food-pairing Brewer’s Dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6. There are still some tickets left (at $40 per person, it’s a relative bargain) and you can buy them online now at EventBrite.

The event features legendary Ecliptic brewmaster John Harris (pictured above), who will be at Ben’s Bottle Shop to talk anything and everything beer. Included with each ticket are four 10-ounce Ecliptic beers paired with four thoughtfully prepared food courses designed to partner specifically with Eclipted beers. Ben’s Bottle Shop chef Geoff Sainsbury—who, journalistic impartiality aside, is one of the best food-and-beer-minded chefs in the Northwest—has outdone himself with the menu, which you can see below. Prepare to drool.

  • First course: spring mix with English cucumber, Roma tomatoes, raspberries, pumpernickel croutons and raspberry vinaigrette, paired with the Electra Framboos Raspberry Ale
  • Second course: maple-orange-glazed steelhead with sauteed broccolini, paired with Orange Giant Barley Wine
  • Third course: seared ribeye with shallots and baby portabellas and a savory chocolate sauce, paired with the Phobos Red Ale
  • Dessert: coffee cream macarons with salted caramel sauce, paired with the Oort Imperial Stout

All participants will be entered into a raffle for beer swag and the grand prize winner will win a VIP tour and tasting with John Harris himself at Ecliptic Brewery. It may go without saying, but guests should be 21 years and older. Ben’s Bottle Shop is located at 8052 E. Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver.

Ecliptic Brewing at Caps N’ Taps

Here’s a question: what if you don’t really like wine? (Gasp! Horrors!) When all the Valentine’s Day activities involve wine and chocolate and fruit and things, what’s a poor hop-and-malt-loving soul to do? What if you prefer a frosty lager, or a handcrafted slightly-above-room-temperature ale? Then forget about all the wine you’ll have to drink this coming weekend in order to please your significant other, and come on down to Caps N’ Taps, where you can let your true beer-loving nature come to the fore.
