4th of July at Fort Vancouver

There’s still time to get advance tickets for Independence Day at Fort Vancouver on Monday, July 4, at the Fort Vancouver National Site. It’s a full day of family fun with live music, games and entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show. The event is produced by the Fort Vancouver National Trust and sponsored by Bank of America. See fireworks launching to 500 feet high and covering a radius of 500 feet with special effects. The 2016 display will once again be staged from Pearson Air Field and synchronized to music.

Gates open at 8 a.m. and live entertainment kicks off at noon. The Kids’ Patriotic Parade presented by Fred Meyer begins at 4 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at 10:05 p.m. The Vancouver Toyota Main Stage features bands like the Rock Steady 234th Army Band, Andy Stokes Band, and The Nu Wavers. Guests can also take guided walking tours of the Vancouver Barracks, enter the reconstructed Fort Vancouver for $3 (free for age 15 and under!), take a bi-plane ride at Pearson Airport, and visit the beverage pavilion featuring local wine and microbrews.

General admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the gate for those 13 and over. Kids 12 and under are free. Presale general admission tickets are available at any Southwest Washington Fred Meyer. Prime Viewing tickets are $25-$50 and provide ticketholders with access to the exclusive Prime Viewing area, where they will enjoy a 4th of July picnic dinner, live music and unobstructed front row seats to the fireworks show. The Port of Camas-Washougal is bringing the community to the riverside for a fabulous 4th of July celebration in Marina Park, happening from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4. There will be live music, food, and family-friendly fun on the beautiful banks of the Columbia River.

Arrive early to park on the future site of the Washougal Waterfront Development, or choose the overflow lot on 2nd St., near the Best Western. Grab a hay ride on a tractor-pulled trailers and ride to Marina Park in style. The Children’s Patriotic Bike Parade starts at 4 p.m., with kids’ games and activities continuing until 5:30 p.m. Food available to purchase includes cotton candy, flavored popcorn, snow cones, tacos, elephant ears, sandwiches, burgers, ice cream and milkshakes, teriyaki bowls, hot dogs, gyros, and a beer garden. At 6 p.m., an evening of music begins with the Country-Rock-and-Blues sounds of the Tracy Fordice Band, followed by 5 Guys Named Moe, an 11-piece horn-driven show band with dynamic vocals. At 10 p.m., the City of Washougal will launch its wow-inducing fireworks show, which grows more spectacular every year.

Felida 4th of July Children’s Parade

The Felida Neighborhood Association and the Hazel Dell-Salmon Creek Business Association are partnering for an adorable annual tradition: the Felida Children’s 4th of July Parade (complete with fun, family-friendly after-parade activities) in Felida Park on Independence Day. The parade begins at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 4, and lasts 30 picture-perfect minutes. Streets will be closed to traffic to allow the parade’s progression. All children, from any neighborhood, are welcome to participate. Kids should plan to start lining up at 10:45 a.m. Afterwards, families are invited to enjoy a free picnic lunch and family games with music by the Vancouver Community Concert Band. Independence Day at Fort Vancouver

Tickets are now available for the Independence Day celebration at Fort Vancouver on Friday, July 4. The first 100 Fort Vancouver National Trust members to reserve spots in the Prime Viewing Area will receive a free commemorative blanket. Volunteers are crucial to the success of Independence Day at Fort Vancouver. In return for a four-hour shift, volunteers get free admission to the event, a free parking pass, a volunteer training session, snacks and water during their shifts, and a free t-shirt. Interested?
