Washougal Festival of Trees
December 2, 2016
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until December 3, 2016
The seventh annual Washougal Festival of Trees is back to spread holiday cheer and raise funds for Washougal schools. It runs from Friday, Dec. 2 (4 to 9 p.m.) through Saturday, Dec. 3 (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at Hathaway Elementary School, 630 24th St. in Washougal.
The festival is presented by the Washougal Lions Foundation and features pre-decorated Christmas trees created by school and community groups to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. There are also fabulous gift baskets to be auctioned and raffled throughout the two-day festival. And don’t miss the famous Lottery Tree loaded with lottery tickets! Another popular feature of the event is the hearty breakfast on Saturday morning (just $3 per person) and photos with Santa (also $3) from 9 a.m. to noon.
Ryan McDonald—president of McDonald Excavating, which is the event’s platinum sponsor—is a 1999 graduate of Washougal High School and is the second generation owner of McDonald Excavating, a Washougal business for 36 years. “I believe it is very important to invest in our schools and communities from which we live and use resources,” says McDonald. “We do our best to buy local, shop local, hire local, and work local.”
Other corporate sponsors include Excavator Rental Services, Miller Manufacturing, Linear Technology, Exterior Wood, IQ Credit Union, Country Financial, Columbia River Realty and City of Washougal Tourism Fund. Generous in-kind services have come from Washougal River Christmas Trees, Fireworks Photography, Columbia Litho and Washougal Lions. For visitors wanting to make a weekend of the event, Best Western Parkersville Inn has offered 10% off room stays during the festival.
