Vancouver Farmers Market
October 1, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas–the spring debut of the Vancouver Farmers Market, right next to Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, on Esther Street between Sixth and Eight Streets. The market opens for its 2017 season on Saturday, March 18, and farmers, vendors, and artisans from around the region will be there every Saturday and Sunday—rain or shine—through Sunday, Oct. 29. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
It’s such a popular destination because everyone leaves happy: the kids can play in the park or get a balloon or chew on an elephant ear, and the grown-ups get fresh, local, and mostly organic produce. There’s wine and olive oil and coffee and cheese and jam and roasted nuts to taste, pastries to sample, strawberry shortcake to consume, and kettle corn to munch on. Plus, there are fresh flowers and one-of-a-kind creations from local artists to buy and wear, display, or use. Other popular activities at the market include wine and beer tastings from select wineries and breweries and listening to the musical performances of local artists. With over 250 craft vendors and farm stands, there’s always something new to discover.
After strolling through the market, visitors can have a picnic lunch on the grassy expanse of park lawn, smell the roses in the Esther Short Rose Garden, hear melodious chimes from the 69-foot Salmon Run Bell Tower, visit Gallery 360 in the historic Slocum House, or dip their toes in the waterfall fountain. Admission is always free, and dogs are welcome. For more information, visit the market’s website at www.vancouverfarmersmarket.com, or call 360-737-8298.
