Reception for Tom Relth at Second Story Gallery
July 7, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Beginning First Friday, July 7, the Camas Library’s Second Story Gallery will display works from Vancouver artist Tom Relth, who focuses on hypothetical and representational landscape. The artist uses various drawing and painting media. Featured works include “Grist Mill Pooling” (above), a 40 x 63 inch canvas depicting the effects on shallow river edges, when water is diverted to the historic Cedar Creek Grist Mill in Woodland.
Relth says, “My work is at once abstract and representational. I work in abstract landscape, and from my experience of nature’s complexity, hoping to guide our survival mechanisms to “read” the painting as a kind of window into this hypothetical landscape.”
Meet the artist and see his work at the Second Story Gallery on First Friday, July 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. for a reception with live music and light refreshment. The art exhibit continues through Friday, July 28. The Second Story Gallery is located upstairs in the Camas Public Library at 625 N.E. 4th Ave. Ample free parking is available on the street.
Relth is the Artist in Residence at Boomerang, a coffee shop, home décor store, and popular hang-out in downtown Vancouver where all the proceeds from sales benefit local charities. There is extensive gallery space downstairs as well as upstairs where Relth curates rotating monthly exhibits and shows, as well as teaching art classes in his studio. To learn more, visit Boomerang at 808 Main St. in downtown Vancouver or email Relth at email@example.com.
