“Poeming Health” Workshop for Creatively Processing Chronic Illness

November 7, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Attend a poetry workshop with Seattle-based psychotherapist and writer Julene Tripp Weaver, who worked in AIDS services for over 21 years. Her third poetry book, “truth be bold—Serenading Life & Death in the Age of AIDS,” was published this past spring. Earlier books include “No Father Can Save Her,” and “Case Walking: An AIDS Case Manager Wails Her Blues.” She is widely published in journals and anthologies including Anti-Heroin Chic, Riverbabble, River & South Review, The Seattle Review of Books, HIV Here & Now, and In The Words of Women International 2016 Anthology (creative nonfiction). Find more of her writing at www.julenetrippweaver.com.

Weaver will lead a workshop at Angst Gallery at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, entitled “Poeming Health.” If you are living with chronic illness or are a caregiver to someone living with chronic illness—or if someone you love has a chronic illness—this workshop is designed for you. The class will provide a clearing space to crystallize thoughts and feelings and clarify what is important to preserve during this time…and what can be let go. Weaver will help attendees explore personal experience through writing that is addressed to the illness, to loved ones, to pain. Writers should bring notebooks and pens. The cost is $25 per person. Register for the workshop at Weaver’s reading on Nov. 9 or by contacting Christopher Luna at christopherjluna@gmail.com or 360-910-1066.
