Off the Page: Real Stories Told Aloud

May 13, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

What’s better than a glass of wine and a really good story? Not much, except if you add food. You can get all three at once at Off the Page, the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District‘s new storytelling series for adults—that is, true stories told by adults for a relatively grown-up audience. The first Off the Page, held at Cascade Park Community Library, was a huge hit, with standing room only and people peeking through the bookstacks to get a better view. The next Off the Page, to be held at Three Creeks Community Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, promises to be just as compelling, with half a dozen storytellers who have carefully crafted their tales to inspire empathy, recognition, joy, suspense, and not a few laughs.

Every Off the Page has a different theme, and the next event will focus on “Stories of First Love,” with an astonishing variety of stories from everything about actual first love—including heartbreak and joy and transformative epiphanies—to an enduring love affair with a popular (and very tasty) finger food.

The event is free, and wine is available to purchase at a no-host bar; proceeds will benefit Friends of Three Creeks Library. Three Creeks Community Library is located at 800 N.E. Tenney Rd. in the Salmon Creek area of Vancouver, near Fred Meyer.
