First Friday Reception for Lillian Pitt at Camas Gallery

Pitt, a highly regarded artist in the Northwest, is a descendant of the Wasco, Yakama, and Warm Springs people and draws her creativity from thousands of years of Native American history and tradition. Pitt has been awarded the Chiles Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Governor’s Award of the Oregon Arts Commission, among with many other awards. Pitt uses the traditional characters known to her ancestors, such as Coyote, the Salmon People, and the legendary Stick Indians. Characters like She Who Watches—originally painted and carved on rock walls—can be found in Pitt’s works.
Pitt’s work will be on display until June 30. The reception will include complimentary light refreshments and live music. Camas Gallery is normally open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The gallery is located at 408 N.E. 4th Ave. in downtown Camas.
