First Friday in the Couve: Art, Fashion & Couve Cycle
April 1, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
First Friday Downtown showcases outstanding art all around Vancouver’s Arts District. This month, Couve Couture is spreading out across downtown with a Spring 2016 Trunk Show & Sale, featuring fashions by the hottest local designers at various fashion-friendly locations. There’s a big tenth birthday party for Art on the Boulevard, and “Uncorked for Kids” is a wine tasting competition at the brand-new Hudson Building at 6th and Main—a fundraiser benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington. Also look for the blue pinwheels around town from the Children’s Justice Center in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Plan to stop by The Marketplace (210 West Evergreen), where the C-TRAN Bus Rapid Transit project has made art a high priority, and you can see renderings of the edgy new bus stations that will grace the downtown core as part of “The Vine.” Last but most exciting for North Bank beer lovers and sightseers, Tap Union Freehouse (1300 Washington, featuring 20 rotating taps of the region’s best craft brews) is now open, and it’s also home to the fabulous Couve Cycle, Vancouver’s trendiest new mode of transportation (pictured above—don’t they look happy?).
So bring your friends. Start early. Wander everywhere. Have a nibble and a drink…and fall in love with the Couve all over again. If you want to know everything that’s happening everywhere this month, you can visit vdausa.org and download the April “hotsheet” and walking map.
