Earth Day Camas Clean-up
April 26, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
On Sunday, April 26, from 1 to 4 p.m., downtown Camas will get a springtime spruce-up with cleaning, weeding, and planting—and it’s a perfectly neighborly way to celebrate Earth Day. This day has special significance in Camas, because Earth Day was started by Camasonian Denis Hayes. The Downtown Camas Association—along with local students, members of the Journey Community Church congregation, city of Camas staff and volunteers just like you—honors his far-reaching legacy by beautifying this lovely riverside town.
Meet at Journey Community Church to help with sidewalk and landscape clean-up, pulling weeds, planting flowers and plants, and spreading barkdust. All ages are welcome. Bring your own shovels, spades, buckets, wheelbarrows and garden gloves. (Wheelbarrows are especially needed.) Garbage bags and rubber gloves are provided for litter pick-up. Journey Church will be serving lunch to volunteers.
If you can’t make it to the clean up but would still like to help, you might consider “adopting” one of the lush flower baskets that adorn lampposts along Camas’ historic 4th Ave. Baskets can be adopted for a tax-deductible $45—this helps to pay for the basket, the flowers, and watering. Buy one for yourself or as a special Mother’s Day gift. To learn more, click here.
