Columbia Dance Presents! (matinee)
March 22, 2014 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Dancers from the Columbia Dance Company will give four performances this weekend, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, and again at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 23. The matinee and evening performances will each offer audiences something a little different, but both are guaranteed to provide a broad sampling of the many styles of dance that Columbia students are trained to perform.
Matinees will feature excerpts from the classical ballet "Sleeping Beauty," a 1950s swing-era "Go Daddy-O" number, three dances choreographed by Bob Fosse, a performance by the Columbia Dance Junior Company, and a premiere by Columbia Dance's artistic director Jan Hurst set to acoustic-fusion music. Evening shows will also feature excerpts from "Sleeping Beauty," as well as Bob Fosse suites, choreography from Eowyn Emerald, and the premiere of "SPiCeY."
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children aged 12 and under. Performances will take place at the Royal Durst Theatre on the campus of the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, 3101 Main St. in the Shumway neighborhood of Vancouver.
