Bullitt at Liberty
July 7, 2017
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until July 9, 2017
It’s the 49th anniversary of the classic film Bullitt—and July 8 is also the Camas Classic Car Show! Clearly, the two classics belong together. The Liberty Theatre in downtown Camas is happy to make this match with three special showings of Bullitt: at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 7, at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 9. It will be shown in the Main Theatre and all seats are just $6.
The movie, originally released in 1968, stars Steve McQueen at Bullitt, a character who is the personification of cool with his Ford Mustang GT390. The Mustang’s nemesis is a black Dodge Charger 440 R/T. When the bad guys in the Charger try to follow and ambush Bullitt, he suddenly appears in their rear view mirror: one of the great visuals in cinematic history.
Fun fact: the Mustang driven in the movie was thought to be lost in the mists of history, but it recently turned up in Mexico. You can read all about it in this fascinating article from Car and Driver.
