Book Launch Party for “A Chorus of One” by Herb Stokes

April 22, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Angst Gallery is hosting a book launch party for A Chorus of One: Selected Poetry and Prose by Herb Stokes, edited by Annie Davern. This event—starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 22—is presented by Printed Matter Vancouver founders Toni Partington and Christopher Luna. Partington and Luna also co-host Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic, the popular monthly poetry series in which Stokes has been a regular participant for many years. Come congratulate Stokes, hear him read, and pick up a copy of the book.

Stokes grew up in the town of Glen Cove on the Long Island Sound in New York. He spent his boyhood climbing trees, fishing ponds, and exploring the waterways of the North Shore in his small boat. Upon early retirement from Swissair Airlines, he and his artist wife, Marianne, relocated to the Intracoastal Waterway in North Carolina. They did the boat and beach scene for a few years, but after a summer visit to Portland, decided the Pacific Northwest would be their home. Soon after, Herb enrolled in the creative writing program for seniors at Clark College, where he developed his writing style—a balanced commentary on the humor and poignancy of life.

If you are unable to attend the book launch, you can order A Chorus of One here: http://www.blurb.com/b/7384900-a-chorus-of-one. Angst Gallery is located at 1015 Main St. in downtown Vancouver.
