“Art of Politics” Opening Reception at North Bank Gallery
October 7, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
North Bank Artists Gallery will launch its “Art of Politics” exhibit on First Friday, Oct. 7, with a special poetry reading. Clark County Poet Laureate Christopher Luna and Printed Matter Vancouver founder Toni Partington will host a series of short poetry readings to accompany the opening reception for the show. Hear thought-provoking and insightful work about the issues that face us today from notable Vancouver poets Edee Lemonier, Livia Montana, Herb Stokes, and Desiree Wright. The reception will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, with readings at 5:45, 6:45, and 7:45 p.m.
The Art of Politics is a group exhibit featuring the works of multiple artists from Vancouver and Portland. It’s an “open show,” meaning that every piece of art that was submitted was accepted for the show—and this makes for a lively exhibit indeed, because the controversial nature of the work is part of the show’s fun. (…and the owners of North Bank Gallery want you to know that the art reflects the views of the artists, not the views of North Bank Gallery, its members, or board of directors. Jus’ sayin’.) The exhibit will run through October.
North Bank Artists’ Gallery is located at 1005 Main Street in downtown Vancouver’s Arts District. The reception is free and open to the public. For more details, visit www.northbankartistsgallery.com or check out the gallery’s Facebook page. Regular gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
