A Visual History of Bonneville Dam: Book Signing at Vintage Books

Vintage Books, Southwest Washington’s largest independent bookstore, is hosting local author Pat Barry for a special book reading and signing at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. Barry, a master storyteller with 27 years of experience as Ranger Supervisor of the Bonneville Visitor Center, will discuss his new pictorial history of the Bonneville Dam. In the book, Barry has put together a compelling visual and written history of the building and the inner workings of the dam—a book that, for Barry, is truly is a labor of love. Barry will be sharing stories, answering questions, and signing copies of his book, “Bonneville Lock and Dam.”

The event is free and open to the public. Vintage Books is located at 6613 E. Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver, near the Safeway shopping center. Ample free parking is available on site. While you’re there, you’ll want to be sure to say hello to the bookstore’s resident cat (because every bookstore needs a cat) and to visit both the extensive used book section and the thoughtfully curated new releases. Vintage Books also has an excellent children’s section—as well as a delightful variety of book-related gifts and one-of-a-kind products made my local artists. (Note from the editor: I find great Christmas presents there every year!) To learn more, or to search for a book online, visit www.vintage-books.net.
