The Scary Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K on Sunday, Oct. 29, is going to be a frighteningly good time! It’s a fundraiser (a RUNdraiser?) for Friends of the Columbia Gorge, and $5 from every registration fee will help restore the habitat that was destroyed by the summer’s devastating Eagle Creek Fire. Participants—runners and walkers—should plan to come in costume for a little Halloween-themed fun.
The course is spooktacularlarly beautiful course beginning in Washougal and following along the Columbia River with views of Mt. Hood and the Gorge. The course is extremely flat and perfect for a Personal Best. Registered runners and walkers get a finisher’s shirt and participant’s medal—and kids are welcome to join, especially for the 5K and 10K courses, which are along a trail, far away from traffic.
After the race, there will be complimentary Halloween-themed food and free beer. Participants also get free race photos e-mailed to them, which can be posted on social media with the hashtag #ScaryRun, which enters you in a drawing to win prizes. The race is hosted by WHY Racing Events with local sponsors. Same-day registration is available.
