Northwood Oktoberfest

Strap on your lederhosen and dirndl dresses and pump up your appetite for German-style beer, food, music and fun, because that’s exactly what you’ll get this weekend during a two-day Oktoberfest at Northwood Public House and Brewery on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8.

Northwood’s Oktoberfest is free, family-friendly, and open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both days. To satisfy Oktoberfest cravings, the menu features sausages, schnitzels, and pretzels—as well as a special dish known as Schweinhaxen (slow-roasted pig’s knuckle). The brewpub will serve Bavarian “fest biers” as well as seasonal favorites. There’ll be live music with polka-rock (it’s a real thing!) from Those Darn Accordians, plus tunes from Big Yellow Taxi and Nordic Spirit. There will also be face painting, balloon art, and coloring contests for the kids, as well as a strong-arm beer stein contest for the adults. The Chicken Dance? Well, that’s for everyone. Bwak!

This popular gastropub has earned its spurs as a North Bank hotspot, drawing a loyal crowd of local regulars as well as food- and beer-lovers from afar, because the fact is, Northwood is worth the trip. The establishment boasts its own, on-site microbrewery, the Little Dipper Brewing Company, which will be releasing its newest brew in honor of Oktoberfest, Oktodunkel. To learn more, visit
