Skamania County has a rich and varied history, but there are two recurring themes that stand the test of time: logging and Sasquatch. In recognition and celebration, several Carson-area businesses have joined with the Skamania County Chamber of Commerce to create Bigfoot Bash at Logtoberfest. The festival takes place from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Gorge-ous Weddings at Wind Mountain Ranch, 192 Erickson Rd. in Stevenson. Admission is free or all ages. See chain saw art, wooden crafts, vintage logging equipment demonstrations, Sasquatch vendors, autumn plants, pumpkins, and more. Kids can make old-fashioned apple cider using a cider press, courtesy of Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum. Stevenson High School cheerleaders will be on hand to help the little ones paint pumpkins to take home. And rumor has it that Bigfoot himself will make a surprise appearance!
On the main stage, flanked by loaded log trucks and sponsored by Riverview Community Bank, Mossy Rock will kick off the event with country music tunes from noon until 2 p.m. The Dalles-based Brewer’s Grade will share their unique version of country from 4 to 6 p.m. In between sets, the mic will be open for folks to share their stories about Bigfoot sightings!
An important feature of Logtoberfest is the craft brews: for a fee of $10, which includes a commemorative Mason jar glass and tickets for two drinks, you can enjoy beer from Backwoods Brewing Company, Ashtown Brewing Company, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom, Freebridge Brewing, Everybody’s Brewing, Walking Man Brewing, Thunder Island Brewing Company, Sedition Brewing Company, pFreim Family Brewers and new from Goldendale, Dwinell Country Ales. Cider from Jester & Judge and whiskey from Skunk Brothers Spirits will also be available. Come dressed like a logger and receive a free beer! There will also be food on site from Tacos Pepe, Nellie’s Pies, Pork, Wind and Fire and more.
