Joe’s Place Pumpkin Patch

Joe’s Place Farm Pumpkin Patch is free, and it’s open every single day in October, including Halloween. Their farm store features not only seasonal fruits, nuts, berries, gourds, and vegetables, but also Mrs. Joe’s superlative jam, Joe’s Place honey made from resident bees, salsas, sauces, salad dressings, canning supplies, and kitchenware. If you come to the farm store, you should stay for The Farm Kitchen, serving desserts and pies by the slice, hot food (nachos, chili, Frito pie) and drinks (hot cider, coffee, hot chocolate, and more).

Here’s what’s free to see at Joe’s Place this October: the Pumpkin Patch, where you can pick your own pumpkin from a huge variety of sugar pie pumpkins, ghost pumpkins, Cinderella pumpkins, blue moon pumpkins, and mini-pumpkins (priced by the pound), the Corn Maze, and the giant Straw Tee-Pee made from dried cornstalks. There are also hayrides ($2 per person) from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends, and the popular Fort Maze ($2) is a large wooden Fort Vancouver-esque maze that’s surprisingly challenging to find your way out of. Seasonal decorations available for sale include mini haybales, colorful Indian corn, a huge variety of gourds, and cornstalks.

Joe’s Place Farm, located at 701 N.E. 112th Ave., is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. For more information, visit www.joesplacefarms.com.
