Headless Horseman Train Ride

The Chelatchie Prairie Railroad is operating its annual Headless Horseman train excursions on Saturday, Oct. 28, and Sunday, Oct. 29. There will be complimentary candy, hot cocoa, coffee, and a haystack full of goodies for the kids—who are welcome to come in costume! The run will be on a steam train, through a 330-foot solid rock tunnel to the Heisson area with a stop at Moulton Station to visit Yacolt Falls, where the Headless Horseman has recently been spotted.

Because of this event’s popularity, the folks at Chelatchie Prairie Railroad (all of whom have their own heads) have added one extra train ride on each day. The trains will depart at 9:30 a.m., noon, and 2:30 p.m. from the train station in Yacolt. Plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time to pick up your tickets and board the train. Advance reservations are recommended.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $19 for those aged 60 or better, $15 ages for ages five through 12, $13 for ages two to four, and little pumpkins under age two are free. The Yacolt station is located at 207 N. Railroad Ave, just south of Yacolt Road. Parking is available on the North side of Yacolt Road, west of the train tracks.
