Enjoy a lazy summer evening with a glass of wine and a few well-chosen words. Come to the Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Night to hear published poets perform some of their work—in addition to poetry read aloud by other local poets, professional and amateur, published and not-yet-published. It’s a poetry salad. (If you want to know more, you can listen to a feature on Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic on OPB Radio’s State of Wonder! Click here to view the article or hear the audio file.)
August’s featured poet is native Portlander Sean Aaron Bowers. His first collection of poetry, We Were Warriors, was published under the pseudonym Johnny No Bueno. His upcoming book, Concrete & Juniper, is due to be released in late 2017 to mid-2018. His work has appeared in Criminal Class Review, Present Tense, and Nailed Magazine.
Sign-ups for Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Night start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, at Angst Gallery and the show starts at 7 p.m. The evening is open to anyone with poetry to share. Nibbles and wine will be provided by Angst’s next-door neighbor, Niche Wine Bar. Angst Gallery is located at 1015 Main St. in downtown Vancouver. For more information, visit angstgallery.com.
