Ridgefield’s First Saturday in July will get you in the patriotic spirit. Come to Ridgefield from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, for “Red, White & Blue Historical Fun.” Gain a new understanding of old Ridgefield on this day full of play and discovery. Enjoy in a red, white, and blue costume contest, play some games, savor cool treats for kids and grown-ups, go on a heritage-based scavenger hunt, meet the town elders, visit the wine and beer garden, and tap your toes to live music.
You can also pick up some fresh produce or get your kids involved in crafts at the Ridgefield Farmer’s Market, get blown away by exploding science experiments at the Ridgefield Community Library (don’t worry, they’re SUPPOSED to explode!), enjoy root beer floats, enter a gunny sack race, and cool off with a misting tower. The Ridgefield Art Association will also be on hand with children’s art projects. Drop by Seasons Café at the Old Liberty Theater any time from 8 a.m. to noon for Red, White, and Blue Waffles: Belgian waffles with strawberries, blueberries, and homemade whipped cream.
And of course you can also enjoy the summer weather by walking through downtown and visiting the shops, biking along the waterfront, hiking a trail at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, or playing in one of the four downtown Ridgefield parks.
