Washougal Arts & Culture Alliance (WACA) hosted its first Washougal Art Festival last year, and based on the Festival’s resounding success, WACA is looking forward to hosting this event annually. To that end, WACA is looking for local artists to exhibit and sell work at the 2017 Washougal Art Festival to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Reflection Plaza in downtown Washougal. Performing arts groups, hourly art raffles, and a children’s art activity area will round out the festival.
“This festival offers a unique opportunity for artists to display and sell works in an intimate and fun setting, and to gain exposure to the Columbia River Gorge community,” says Janice Ferguson, WACA President and Clark County Art Commissioner. “We’re also proud to provide visitors with the accessibility to original art in our community. Many visitors were seen leaving with artworks in hand, which is a win for both the artists and the attendees.”
The festival is open to visual artists working in all media and is intended for professional artists who are actively producing and exhibiting their work to sell. All entries will be juried based on originality, creativity, craftsmanship, and professionalism. Judging will also consider the expression of a unique vision and style, and the mastery over the artist’s chosen medium. Festival and entry information is available for artists on the WACA website at www.washougalarts.org or by clicking here. The entry deadline is May 1.
