Earth Day at LeRoy Haagen Park

Bring your whole family and join the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Watersheds Alliance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Earth Day, April 22, for a clean-up and invasive species pull at LeRoy Haagen Memorial Park, on N.E. 9th St. west of N.E. 136th Ave. The goal is to protect the park’s natural areas.

The highlight of the day will be an Invasive Species Scavenger Hunt. Teams will compete to see who can pull the largest amount invasive plants, remove the most trash and spread the most mulch. Prizes will be awarded! This is the largest work party the neighborhood has hosted, and will happen rain or shine. Volunteers should dress for outside conditions, preferably in layers, in order to work comfortably. The weather is predicted to be sunny, but participants should have coats, rain gear, and hats, just in case. All tools will be provided, but bring your own work gloves, if you have them. Bring a reusable water bottle and mug for coffee and hot chocolate. Lunch will follow.

Additional community partners include Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, Solve Oregon, Dutch Bros. Coffee, and Fortside Brewing Company. The event is part of the Comcast Cares initiative.
