Are you ready to lift a pint or two in memory of ol’ St. Pat? Well, there’s a cartload of local places where you can get your Irish on, eat some Irish-inspired food, and—most importantly—drink beer. Here’s a brief (but by no means exhaustive) list of what’s happening in your neck o’ the woods:
Brickhouse Bar & Grill, 109 W. 15th St.: a full-on, Old School St. Patrick’s Day celebration with bagpiping by the Vancouver Firefighters Pipes & Drums, Irish dancing with the Yeats Academy Molly Mallone Dancers, a performance by Northwest Stomp, live music with Tony Smiley at 10 p.m., corned beef and cabbage, Guinness and other Irish stouts, Irish red beer, and Irish whiskey from open on March 17 until 2 a.m. on March 18.
Shanahan’s Irish Pub and Grill, 209 W. McLoughlin Blvd.: party starting at 10 a.m. March 17, and lasting until the wee hours of March 18, featuring lots of Guinnes Irish stout and corned beef and cabbage.
Doomsday Brewing Safe House, 1919 Main St. in downtown Vancouver: party from 4 to 11 p.m. with a limited five-gallon batch of Irish stout. Each pint of the special release will get you a raffle tickets to win Doomsday gift cards. Live music by A Foot Ahead from 8 to 10 p.m., and $4 pints of Killbox Keylime Kolsch. Wear leprechaun gear and get $1 off pints.
Loowit Brewing, 507 Columbia St.: Irish-style beers are $3.75 per pint. Three Irish-style beers will be on tap, including MacManus Irish Stout on nitro, Durry Quill Irish Cream Ale on nitro, and Two-Sixteen Irish Red. You can also snap a pic at Loowit’s St. Paddy’s Selfie Station (see the adorable example above).
The Grocery Social & Cocktail, 115 W. 7th St.: open 2 p.m. to 2 a.m with $10 Grasshoppers (green Chartreuse, creme de menthe, creme de cacao, and vanilla ice cream), $10 Redeye Whiskey (Double V Distillery’s Irish-style whiskey), and corned beef and cabbage.
Low Bar, 1013 Main St.: a Low Bar-style St. Paddy’s Day celebration with Irish whiskey flights, Irish beers, and Irish stews, from open until close. “No dyed green stuff,” (according to Low Bar’s Facebook page), just “stuff for the adults.”
