Dr. Mehrdad Shojaei is the featured artist at Camas Gallery from March 1-31. Shojaei serves as a physician at local hospital and, during his time off, travels to beautiful places and stunning habitats to photograph nature’s beauty. While Shojaei enjoys his chosen field as a medical doctor, he has turned toward photography as “an exhilarating experience which completes what was missing” from his life. In fact, Shojaei would like to explore the possibility of using photography in the treatment of his medical patients. He believes the use of photography in storytelling can bring profound results in improving the health of patients—to the same degree as music, art, and the companionship of pets.
Camas Gallery will host an opening reception for Shojaei on First Friday, March 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Camas Gallery is normally open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The gallery is location is 408 N.E. 4th Ave. in downtown Camas.
