Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic

Editor’s note: due to the snow, this event has been postponed until Thursday, Jan. 19.

Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Night offers a bright light on a dark winter’s night, starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Angst Gallery. The evening is open to anyone with poetry to share; sign-ups start at 6:30 and last until the show starts at 7 p.m. The featured guests this month are Michael C. Guimond and Jen Coleman. Nibbles and wine will be provided by Angst’s next-door neighbor, Niche Wine Bar, and Briz Loan & Guitar is donating their expertise and equipment to make sure everyone’s mic is turned on and you can hear what the Couve’s best poets are laying down.

Guimond has been writing, in fun and in earnest, for quite some time, and performing publicly is a celebration of the sanity he maintains through the process. He’s read some poems on KBOO, and has had some poems published. He vows to “clown and rant” until he’s dead, which we hope won’t be for a long time now.

Coleman is author of Psalms for Dogs and Sorcerers from Trembling Pillow Press, winner of the 2013 Bob Kaufman Book Prize selected by poet Dara Wier, and We Denizens from Furniture Press in 2016. Originally from Minnesota, Jen received her BA from Beloit College and MFA from George Mason University in Virginia. She spent eight years in New York, where she co-edited the journal POM2. She now lives in Portland.

Angst Gallery is located at 1015 Main St. in downtown Vancouver. For more information, visit To learn more about the monthly Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Nights, visit
