The holiday season is swinging into the ‘Couve with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s popular Big Horn Brass concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Skyview Concert Hall. The renowned brass ensemble always strikes the right notes as they play some of the world’s greatest holiday music—and you’ll hear an even bigger, merrier sound this year with special guest vocalist, the soul-stirring Laura Berman.
The Big Horn Brass is a 16-member ensemble that spreads its sparkling brass tones through an toe-tapping mix of holiday favorites. From traditional carols to popular songs and music from The Polar Express, this concert will warm the hearts of young and old. This year’s concert also includes original arrangements from the Stan Kenton Library, compelling arrangements by Oregon’s Phil Neuman and Washington’s William Berry, traditional favorites for classical brass by Leroy Anderson and James Burden, and soaring melodies by movie composer Jerry Fielding.
All proceeds from the concert benefit the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are $25 for adults or $10 for students and are available at www.vancouversymphony.org. The world-class Skyview Concert Hall is located on the campus of Skyview High School at 1300 N.W. 139th St. in the Salmon Creek area of Vancouver.
