It’ll be a steamy weekend in Yacolt, because the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad is on track for family-friendly steam train rides as well as a special Harvest Dinner and Wine & Cider Train in partnership with Moulton Falls Winery; click here for details about the Harvest Dinner.
The steam train rides are 13 mile scenic round-trips from Yacolt to Basket Flats. Passengers will travel through the beautiful logging and farming country of North Clark County, stopping at Moulton Station to visit Yacolt Falls. Along the way, the train will travel across the Lewis River with excellent views from a cliff-side vantage point, followed by the thrill of riding through a 330-foot-long tunnel blasted out of solid rock.
The trains depart from Yacolt at noon and 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 18 (but passengers should arrive a half-hour early for boarding). Tickets are $20 for adults, $19 for seniors, $15 for children five to 12, and $13 for little ones two to four. Babies up to age two are free. Buy your tickets at www.bycx.com or call 360-686-3559.
