The Camas Library‘s Book to Art Club is the perfect springboard for the person with a creative imagination who’s inspired by words. The premise is simple: everyone in the club reads the same book, then uses the story as the mental springboard for an original work of art. The medium can be anything—drawing, painting, fiber or ceramic, glass or metal, jewelry or photography. Then you bring your completed art piece to the club, where you can share and discuss it with other attendees.
This month’s book selection is Margo Lanagan’s “The Brides of Rollrock Island,” inspired by the Selkies, a legend about seals-turned-people which comes primarily from the North Sea region of Ireland, Scotland, Norway, and Denmark. The next Book to Art Club (hosted by Judy Wile, who is also the creative genius behind the Camas Library’s monthly Craft-o-Rama group) will meet on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 6:30 p.m.
The Book to Art Club is absolutely free to attend and open to anyone age 18 and over. To register, call 360-834-4692 or e-mail email@example.com. The Camas Public Library is located at 625 N.E. 4th Ave. in downtown Camas.
