Have you ever thought to yourself, during a quiet moment, "You know what? I don't have enough poetry in my life. I simply must have more poetry. Where can I get poetry on the North Bank?" Let us point you to the place where all (or at least most) of your poetry needs can be readily filled: at the next Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Night, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at Cover to Cover Books (6300 N.E. St. James Rd., Suite 104B, in Vancouver).
This monthly gathering of poets and poetry lovers is co-hosted by Clark County's Poet Laureate Christopher Luna and the publisher of Printed Matter Vancouver, Toni Partington. April's Open Mic Night will feature M. (yes, that's right, just "M."), whose work has appeared in a variety of journals and is anthologized in "The Widow's Handbook." Her chapbook, "To That Mythic Country Called Closure," was released by Concrete Wolf Press in 2013.
The material discussed at Open Mic Night sometimes includes mature topics, and poems are uncensored, so it's best to leave the little ones at home. Come prepared to hob-nob with Smedley the Bookstore Cat. For more information about other poetry-related goings-on in Clark County, visit the Poetry in Clark County website.
