This green-tastic parade celebrates the birthday of Hough Elementary School's namesake and popular historical figure Patrick Hough, who was born on St. Patrick's Day in 1846. Hough (affectionately known as Paddy) was an Irish-born educator who taught in Vancouver from 1899 to 1925. Hough School was named in his honor 17 years after he died, and the neighborhood sprouted up around the school became the Hough Neighborhood. And that's your North Bank history lesson for the day!
The parade is sponsored by the Hough Foundation, a nonprofit community organization that works with philanthropic, business, civic, scholastic, and faith partners to provide local students opportunities for academic, physical, and social growth.
